About Daybreak Neo Mini

Daybreak Neo Mini is based on ‘Daylight on a Stick’; a chainable PCB LED bar by Voron Design used to illuminate your 3D printer. Connectors are located at both ends of the PCB so you can chain bars together. Daybreak is the Vector 3D Modified version of Daylight on a Stick. See ‘Modifications’ below for more info on modifications.

Daybreak Neo Mini is just like the standard Daybreak, but smaller (mini), and RGB (neo)!

One PCB stick, assembled with JST XH headers at both ends.

  • Voltage: 5V
  • Dimensions: 170 x 11 mm
  • The colour is RGB; individually programmable per LED on the strip.
  • The operating temperature of the LEDs is -40 to +80C

These are designed to fit mini Voron 3D printers such as the V0.1 but are compatible with any 5v 3 pin neopixel compatible 3D printer that can provide enough current.
I have designed a mounting system which you can find here: Github-Daybreak-Mounts

I have modified the original design in a few ways:

  • Different resistors and layout
    • Since different LEDs are used, the layout and resistors have been adjusted to suit these.
  • Mini
    • The mini variant of Daybreak is a shorter 170mm length for use in smaller printers like the Voron V0.1.
  • NEO
    • The standard white LEDs are swapped out for RGB LEDs meaning you can make loads of different colours and control each LED individually using a neopixel library.

Quality is top notch, the shipping was fast (considering that it was UK –> Germany)!

Super fast delivery, great comms from Adam. Thanks

These are really good for the Voron 0 but I wish there was a bit more information readily available for configuring in Klipper. The V3D GitHub site for all of the strips, whether they are the RGB Neo versions or not, are copy-pasted from the 24V Voron 2.4 Daybreak strips. For a start, these are 5V. I think RGBW LEDs would have been more versatile, but ultimately they are great for the price and provide fairly decent illumination of the print bed with the possibility of using macros to change the colour for various tasks.
One benefit of the Picobilical (at least the LDO version) is that the board provides 2 headers for LED strips, which makes installation a lot easier but the option of daisy chaining is provided for single headers.
